Joanne Stepaniak has shown me that healthy food does not have to be bland and boring. Her creative use of ingredients is so inspiring. This book offers a great variety of recipes and I recommend it to everyone who wants a healthy heart and body.

I recently purchased this book for my father who was diagnosed with high blood pressure and cholesterol. He’s a pretty dedicated meat eater, but he’s loved all of the recipes he’s tried from this book! I especially like the menu plan–it gives me great ideas for deciding on my weekly menu. Some of my favorite recipes include Buckwheat Banana Pancakes, Cream of Broccoli Chowder and Fennel with Italian Style Tofu Steaks. The addition of flax to a number of the recipes is also appreciated. This book is a must for any Joanne-fan and is a great intro to heart-healthy compassion eating!

I love powdered donuts, but I had given then up on my heart-healthy vegan diet. Jo has given them back to me with her aptly-titled recipe “Muffins that taste like Donuts.”

I was very disapointed in Stepaniak’s new book, being a big fan of several of her previous works. There is very little really “new” here–and some old recipies repeated from previous books! The recipes are uninspired, and the work as a whole is not worth the money. Come on, Joanne, we know you can do better!
